The Sainsbury Centre offers an outstanding environment for postgraduate museum studies. The year-long full-time, or two-year part-time taught courses are at the heart of the programme, but it is also possible to enrol for an MA by research or for M.Phil and Ph.D research degrees. The MA in Museology is validated by the Museums Association and the Cultural Heritage National Training Organisation and former students are now working in museums and galleries around the world.

The programme offers a thematically integrated, rather than narrowly modular, approach to the study of museums and galleries and to professional training. Central to the course is the opportunity to mount a full-scale exhibition in the Sainsbury Centre galleries, working closely with the staff of the Centre. There are also specialist options in museum and gallery education and research, and museum marketing and visitor studies.
